Hi, I am Charles Roring. I work as private tour guide. I write this blog to promote eco-tourism, empower the indigenous people, and at the same time preserve the rainforest and coral reef environment of West Papua.Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/charles.roring
Most of the posts are about my travel reports after trekking, birding, caving, snorkeling and other outdoor activities in such areas as:
- Fish Lagoon and uninhabited islands in Raja Ampat,
- Klasow valley of Sorong regency,
- Tambrauw mountains,
- Arfak mountains of Manokwari,
- Triton bay of Kaimana,
- Numfor island, and even to the land of Koroway tribe.
Trekking in the tropical jungle of West Papua is a fascinating activity. You will be able to see the beautiful scenery of the mountains, slopes that go down to the beach, colorful flowers; butterflies and sometimes the beatiful birds of paradise that perform courtship dance in the mornings and in the afternoons. However, trekking also needs physical endurance. Please, do regular exercises, such as jogging or walking as your preparation before visiting the tropical rainforest of West Papua.
I used to guide tourists on a Trekking tour in the forest of Klaglass in Sorong regency. After hours of walking and exploring the ecosystem of the jungle, she told me that she felt severe pain in her back and leg muscles. Back to the hotel, I had to change my profession from being a hiking guide to working as a massage therapist. Fortunately, I've got the skill.
So, in addition to bringing food, binoculars, camera, head lamp, sleeping bag for your trekking trip, you need to do regular exercise before visiting West Papua.
Well, I am learning some basics of French language now. If you are a French tourist who plan to visit Papua and need me to provide guiding service, you may give me some private lessons in return.
When I don't guide tourists, I like drawing, watercolor painting, or creating vector graphic art. You could see some of my artworks at Wildlife Art. You could be a model for my next artwork if you are here :-) One or two cups of tea will be good for a nice conversation.
